If You Build It, Will They Come? Markets That Could Be The Next Life Sciences Field of Dreams
Thursday,May 05, 2022:1:45 PM -2:45 PM
Speaker(s)
Description
The pandemic put a spotlight on the Life Sciences industry, which is a field comprised of pharmaceuticals, biomed and biotechnology, nutraceuticals, and more. The race for vaccines, treatments, and other therapies spurred activity in the sector highlighting a demand for research, lab and, development space that pushed vacancies to record lows in the key cluster markets of Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, and Raleigh-Durham. To satiate demand, developers are exploring new and adjacent markets for Life Science projects that are beyond the key cluster markets. However, although lab space is a primary driver for space, other integral factors for the successful development of life science buildings and innovation ecosystem must be considered.
This session addresses some of the core ingredients in creating a life science ecosystem—along the intersection of talent, community amenities, academic, and commercial opportunities—and where space is likely to be successfully delivered in the coming years.
